Multiple Categories of Recognition

As with previous years, OGA will institute a diverse, highly-qualified and credible panel of judges to score the top submissions. OGA will honor three overall WINNERS, four HONORABLE MENTIONS and a SPECIAL RECOGNITION category for a youth-led initiative. Judges will articulate why they want to nominate this youth-led initiative. The initiative that is nominated the highest number of times will be chosen for special recognition. Even if this initiative appears in the “winners” or “honorable mentions” category, it will be doubly acknowledged.

WINNERS

Judges’ scores will be aggregated to produce an absolute rank order of countries in the top 3. These countries will be recognized as the overall winners of the competition.

HONORABLE MENTIONS

Four applicants will be acknowledged with “honorable mentions” - one from each of OGP’s four regions. In case of overlaps in countries who may be the overall winner and also the highest scorer in their region, we will choose the 2nd highest scorer for the honorable mention.

SPECIAL RECOGNITION

This year OGA is pleased to announce a special new Open Government Partnership Youth Award for initiatives led by people ages 30 and under. In the short five year history of OGP, we have seen the great potential of young people to bring about impactful changes in government due in parts to their interest in new technologies, their ability to think big and their desire to create a better world for future generations. We look forward to seeing greater youth involvement in OGP and hope this award will help us identify future open government champions.
